Symposium on Fracking at The Santa Fe Art Institute

NMSP and SFAI recently hosted an informative and inspiring discussion about the threats New Mexico faces due to fracking. The event, organized & moderated by New Mexico Story Power (Asha Canalos, Delaney Pearson & Maya Rommwatt), included a panel of very special guests: Eleanor Bravo, Food & Water Watch; Mike Eisenfeld, San Juan Citizens Alliance; Miya King-Flaherty, Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter; Mariel Nanasi, New Energy Economy; Rebecca Sobel, Wild Earth Guardians; and Daniel Tso, Navajo Nation.

The public discussion was part of a larger event, ‘Songs From the Extraction Zones,’ a multi-disciplinary exhibition (co-curated by Asha Canalos and Toni Gentilli of The Santa Fe Art Institute), and symposium. A digital map presentation of fracking in NM given before the panel discussion by Tom Burkett of the River Healers is forthcoming.
